Repowering and expanding a decade-old solar asset
The original 1.4 MWp rooftop solar panel system at Bartlett Business Park was installed in 2014. Ten years on, it had developed serious faults, the original installer was no longer trading, and repeated repair attempts had failed to resolve the issues. Rather than continue patching an ageing system, Bartletts asked us to repower the site entirely.
We designed and delivered the new system using Trina Solar modules, SolarEdge inverters and Van der Valk mounting, with the business park fully operational throughout the works. The project went well beyond a like-for-like replacement:
- We treated the roof for cut-edge corrosion before installation began and added permanent skylight protection and line-access systems for safe maintenance across the asset’s life.
- The repowered 1.4 MWp system generated around 4% above forecast in its first year.
- When new machinery and processes roughly doubled electricity demand at the park, Bartletts commissioned a second phase, expanding the system to 2 MWp. The second phase was sized using operational data from the system’s first year.
