Ineco Energy achieved and maintained ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, first certified in April 2024 and passing audits in 2025 and 2026 with zero non-compliances.
What is ISO certification?
ISO standards are internationally recognised frameworks developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation. These are standards for how organisations should manage key areas of their business and operations.
The three standards within the ISO accreditation framework held by Ineco Energy address distinct areas below:
- Broadly speaking, ISO 9001 is a Quality Management System (QMS) that helps organisations improve continuously over time.
- ISO 14001 covers environmental management. It requires organisations to identify and manage their environmental impact through measurable steps. For Ineco, this has included transitioning to electric vehicles, among other measures.
- ISO 45001 covers occupational health and safety. It requires organisations and any potential subcontractors to maintain safe working environments through documented, risk-controlled procedures.
For businesses, achieving certification is only the first step. Each year, an external ISO auditor reviews evidence, documentation, and processes to confirm that the ISO standards are being upheld and identifies opportunities for further improvement.
What this means for Ineco Energy
Holding all three ISO certifications demonstrates that Ineco Energy is not complacent about standards, quality, and compliance.
The company has invested in Citation Limited, a UK business support company offering HR, health and safety, and compliance services, to utilise their ISO framework. This helped Ineco Energy continually drive the highest possible standards of excellence through quality systems, environmental management, and health and safety.
During the most recent ISO inspection, the independent auditor extracted numerous documents from Ineco Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS) that satisfied the inspection and provided evidence that the company continues to meet the standards.
In a sector where clients routinely use ISO compliance as a criterion when selecting contractors, these certifications provide independent evidence that Ineco Energy meets the requirements expected of a professional organisation in the UK.
Colin noted: “It’s a milestone to achieve, and maintaining it each year is essential.”
At the end of the inspection, Colin noted the assessor’s final feedback: “The auditor said reviewing Ineco’s audit is like finding a golden wrapper inside a chocolate bar.”
