"Improving energy performance and futureproofing our assets is an important part of our refurbishment programme. Integrating solar PV into this refurbishment enabled us to reduce energy costs for occupiers, improve the buildings EPC and strengthen the building’s overall attractiveness to the market. Ineco provided a professional service throughout, combining strong technical expertise with a collaborative approach to deliver a quality installation that integrated seamlessly with both the building and the wider refurbishment works."

The Motivation

At the end of a recent tenancy, Mucklow Investments refurbished Stargate Business Park, a 2010-built commercial property in Birmingham, to enhance its appeal and attract a new occupier.

Solar PV was integrated as part of the upgrade to improve energy performance and achieve a stronger EPC rating, helping to reduce future running costs. Roof remedial works were undertaken concurrently to ensure the system could be incorporated seamlessly into the building.

The Ineco Solution

Ineco Energy designed and installed a solar PV system tailored to meet the building’s expected electricity demand while allowing for future expansion across the southerly roof area. The 336-panel, 154.56 kWp array was configured to maximise onsite energy consumption and support improved building performance following the refurbishment.

High-efficiency JA Solar modules were paired with a SolarEdge inverter and optimiser system to enhance generation, safety and monitoring. The installation was secured using a Van der Valk mounting solution, ensuring safe and seamless integration with the refurbished roof.

The Benefits

By partnering with Ineco Energy to deliver this solar installation, Mucklow Investments has enhanced building performance and long-term asset value while lowering occupational energy costs. Benefits include increased property value, an improved EPC rating, stronger tenant appeal and retention, and clear support for ESG and net zero objectives.

Future
tenants will also benefit from the solar PV through lower electricity costs, reduced exposure to energy price volatility, and occupation of a more sustainable and efficient workplace with no upfront investment required.

The
installation demonstrates how integrating renewable energy can deliver tangible value for both owners and occupiers, creating a more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready building.
