The Motivation
The school’s outdated and deteriorating lighting was negatively impacting the learning environment for both students and staff. Rising energy costs, along with expensive maintenance and repairs, placed additional strain on the school’s budget. Emerson Valley sought a solution that would enhance classroom lighting, create a more stimulating and comfortable learning environment, and reduce both energy expenses and its carbon footprint.

They successfully secured an £8,191 non-repayable contribution from the Carbon Trust and an interest-free loan from the government-backed Salix scheme, covering the entire project cost. This meant the school had no upfront expenses.

Ineco installed 286 high-quality, energy-efficient LED luminaires from Dextra Lighting. The new lighting system significantly improved light quality across the school while using 20% fewer fittings. This resulted in immediate reductions in energy consumption, costs, and carbon emissions, providing long-term financial and environmental benefits.
