“Dextra Group has embraced green energy in its manufacturing process, further reducing the company’s environmental impact and carbon footprint. Working with Ineco energy, the solar arrays generate power to support operational functions and manufacturing equipment with further benefit realised through charging the company’s fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles. The site wide installation of solar will enable the company to be cost neutral on energy during the summer months."

The Motivation

Since 2016, Dextra has partnered with Ineco Energy — initially through the supply of high-efficiency LED lighting, and more recently by delivering solar PV installations to generate clean energy for its facilities. On-site renewable generation provided a reliable way to power manufacturing operations, reduce carbon emissions, and mitigate exposure to future energy price volatility.

Following the success of the initial solar phase, sharp increases in energy prices prompted Dextra to expand its PV deployment, enabling further reductions in operating costs, lower reliance on the grid, and greater long-term energy self-sufficiency.

The Ineco Solution

To maximise on-site renewable generation, Ineco Energy installed 6,478 solar panels totalling 2.11 MWp across 12 buildings at Dextra’s headquarters and manufacturing site. The optimised system now powers Dextra’s manufacturing operations as well as the company’s hybrid and electric vehicle fleet.

A trial battery storage system has been integrated to provide insights into emerging storage technology and enhance energy independence. Alongside this, a long-term O&M agreement ensures ongoing safety, performance, and complete peace of mind.

The Benefits

The solar installation delivers major financial, reputational and environmental gains for Dextra Group:

1.
Lower electricity costs through on-site generation
2.
Greater energy security against price volatility
3.
Significant carbon reductions in operations and product lifecycle
4.
Support for EV charging across the company fleet
5.
Cost neutrality in summer, with solar meeting site demand
6.
Enhanced environmental credentials

Partnering
with Ineco Energy has enabled Dextra to embed clean energy into its manufacturing, strengthening its position as a UK leader in sustainable production.
